The word 'Selfie' has been made The Word of 2013 beating tough competition from 'twerk', 'binge-watch' and 'showrooming' as it has evolved from a niche social media tag into a popular word which is used commonly these days.
In a survey of 2000 people organized by OnePoll on behalf of Samsung Galaxy S4 Zoom, 17 per cent of men admitted that they take 'selfies' compared to just 10 per cent of women.
About half of the British residents admit to uploading pictures from their smartphones immediately onto social media websites to share them with their friends and family.
The poll discovered that 5.4 million people in the United Kingdom post bragging photos within 10 minutes of arriving on holidays, hotel rooms, in bars and nightclubs and also of their bed.
